Event Description

Catalina Island Trek!

A new 35+ mile trail opened up in Catalina Island in 2009.  It's one of the most beautiful trails in California where you will experience solitude, sweeping vistas of the ocean from all sides of the island, watch bison, wildlife, foxes and sleep under the stars.  If you've ever wanted to do a backpack of this sort but wondered how you would carry all that weight through all those miles, here is your answer.

In order to appeal to those who are not hard core backpackers, a transportation company will be transferring our gear from campground to campground where it will be waiting for us when we arrive.  We'll set up our tents, eat, go to bed and wake up the next morning to start hiking again.  Our gear will be picked up and taken to the next location.  At the end of the trek (Parson's Landing) we'll be picked up and taken to the boat departure to go home.

All you have to do is hike 10-14 miles each day, enjoy the views and feel the peace of the island. I've made all the arrangements for transportation, moving of gear and all the details will be given to you upon signing up.

The price includes:

  •  Boat transportation from Long Beach to Avalon Island on Friday evening.
  • All camping fees at each evening stop
  • Transportation of all your gear to the next campground as needed.
  • Transportation back to Avalon to catch the boat back home.

You have the choice of participating two ways:

1. Arrive Friday evening to camp and hike Saturday and Sunday to Two Harbors (2/3 of the trail)  Go home Sunday evening.

2. Arrive Friday evening to camp and hike Saturday, Sunday and Monday to Parson's Landing (the entire Catalina Trail) Go home on Monday.

Total trek each day is 10-12 miles where you will carry your day pack with lunch, water and snacks.  More details of this will be sent to participants.

There are 12 spots open for the 4 day trek and 12 for the 3 day trek.  They will be given only to those who pay in advance for the trip.  Due to time limitations, there will be no refunds unless I can replace your spot with someone else and only after all spots have been filled.

Please note: I make no profit from your participation in this event and the price you are paying for it is figured on group rates, which is usually cheaper than if you were to book this on your own.

You must pay in advance in order to be moved to the attending list.
