| Description | Welcome to "Hiking With Dean," the best hiking group for hiking this side of the Los Angeles River! We are headquartered in "The Big Wild"-- an 18,500-acre wildlife area that includes 10,000-acre Topanga State Park and other public lands at San Vicente Mountain Park (aka the Nike Missile Base), Rustic, Sullivan and Mission canyons.
Formally the original weekday hiking group "The Weekday Hikers," we now meet regularly on the weekends for hikes mostly in and around the Santa Monica Mountains, between Pt Mugu to the west and Will Rogers State Park to the east. Once a month or so we'll leave our comfort zone and explore the trails of Orange County. During the Spring and Summer months I'll be leading evening and full moon hikes during the week (byob!)
